Amendment to the Regulation on Mechanisms and Procedures for the Hiring of Foreign Citizens

Through the Decree n. º 43/2022, published in BR n. º. 161, 1st Series of 19 August, the Government of the Republic of Mozambique amended the articles 5, 10 and 18 of the Regulation on Contracting Mechanisms and Procedures of Foreign Citizens, approved by the Decree N. º 37/2016, of 31 August.

The changes now introduced are, in summary, the following:

In the Short-Term Work regime, the short-term work period was extended from 90 to 120 days, and this period can be used consecutively or interpolated, in a calendar year.

It is also clarified that the short-term work regime can be attributed to foreign citizens even if they are bound by contract with the headquarter employer or those represented abroad and aims to carry out occasional work.
